THE ART OF CONSCIOUS RELAXATION

Understand the science behind Restorative Yoga, and learn the artful skills of practicing and teaching this wonderful restful style of yoga.

This is the First Restorative Yoga Teaching Training in Singapore.

WHY DO RESTORATIVE YOGA
In this day and age of the constant rush to do more and strive for more, we have become a society that is stressed out, impatient, intolerant with our frazzled nerves.  Stress related illnesses are on the rise – irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers, migraines, heart disease, obesity, and fertility issues, to name a few. Restorative yoga is a practice that provides rest to the body, with support, awareness and intention. This deep, purposeful, and mindful kind of rest reduces fatigue, alters and lowers our stress responses and helps us to function better physically, mentally and emotionally.

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE YOGA
Restorative yoga is the yoga of non-doing that focuses on ease and release.  Well-placed props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks and eye pillows are used, to safely support the body in various poses. When the body is fully supported in this manner, it begins to relax and release deep layers of tension. This process invokes a natural state of balance, replenishment, and healing rest.

IS RESTORATIVE YOGA THE SAME AS YIN YOGA
Though both styles of yoga are slower paced, with longer held poses, they are completely different. Restorative yoga requires no muscular effort, no stress to a joint and it does not elicit a stretch sensation. In fact, restorative yoga is practiced in a completely supported way, that allows for the body to open with ease, to allow for total relaxation.
